ABOUT UTOPIA
Who we are
Utopia (United through our past in Africa), is a group of women from Cape Town who shared their formative years as members of the Schoenstatt Youth. In 2014, we reunited to assist in organising the Schoenstatt movement’s centenary celebration in Cape Town.

Organically, the WhatsApp chat group evolved into a friendship circle, a prayer support group and we started doing ad hoc community outreach projects. With contributions from our members, we were able to host Christmas parties for disadvantaged children and seniors as well as gift much needed clothing to shelters for abandoned babies and victims of Gender Based Violence(women’s shelters). During Covid, the needs of the communities escalated and intensified, and we were able to support soup kitchens, distribute food and sanitary parcels, provided cash vouchers to front-line workers, to name a few of our projects.

- A Medical Doctor with 25+ years as a GP
- A doctor of palliative nursing with 36 years nursing experience
- A registered nurse with ward and theatre experience
- A hospice volunteer, with 15 years’ experience, trained in complementary therapies and as an end-of-life companion
