Maryland Palliative Hospice Centre (MPHC) is an all women-led project which has its foundation in the Schoenstatt Youth. It is in this movement that they were formed and trained to be strong women and members of society. Utopia in Action – the registered name of the company – acquired the property to launch this project in Hanover Park, Cape Town to train and empower unemployed youth, establish a palliative and hospice centre, and a sustainable garden.

The Logo Explained
The tree embodies the cycles of life, symbolising growth, strength, and renewal. Its roots signify wisdom, knowledge, and insight, with the Schoenstatt Shrine at its core, representing the heart of Utopia’s friendship, motivation, and inspiration.
The tree’s trunk takes the form of a woman, honouring the strength and dedication of each founding member of the project. Her outstretched branches resemble triumphant arms, welcoming diverse hands and hearts to join in building a brighter future and fostering healing, help, and harmony.
